The Towson University Marching Band will hit the Big Apple for New York City’s annual Veterans Day Parade on Sunday, November 11.

The parade is the country’s largest event honoring the United States armed forces, and is produced by the United War Veterans Council — a non-profit organization dedicated to honor and serving American’s veterans.

The parade can be viewed via live stream at Military.com

The parade provides the public with the opportunity to salute veterans and military, and raises  awareness for organizations working to serve their needs. It is also the centerpiece of an annual citywide effort to honor the veteran community.

This isn’t the first time that the TU Marching Band has participated in a parade in New York City. In November 2009, the band enjoyed the most public and prestigious performance of its history as a participant in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Towson University Marching Band is directed by John Miliauskas, and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this season. Along with the parade, the marching band will perform at all five Towson University football home games, and is scheduled to participate in the 23rd annual Collegiate Marching Band Festival in Allentown, Pa on Sunday, September 30.
