On November 7, 2018, Calvin Ball defeated incumbent Alan Kittleman to become the first African-American Howard county executive after 12 years in public service on the county council.

In the video above, Ball '97 talks about his Towson University education and its impact on him personally and professionally.

Ball received his degree in philosophy and religion from the College of Liberal Arts, but his ties to TU didn't sever after graduation. He served as an adjunct faculty member and held a position in the Office of the Provost.

Ball credits TU with connecting him to civic leaders early on to discuss ideas he had to do more for the community.
