Tigers honored in Daily Record’s Leading Women awards

The awards honor women 40 or younger for their professional and charitable accomplishments

Six Towson University alumnae are among The Daily Record’s 2019 Leading Women award winners.

Leading Women recognizes 50 Maryland women age 40 and younger for their professional experience, community involvement and commitment to inspiring change.

The alumnae winners are Jennifer Kouo ’11, Amanda O’Donohue ’11, Andrea H. Parrish ’04 ’17, Lauren Perlin ’03, Ashley Rosenblatt ’09 and Emily Shank ’08.

They work in fields as diverse as software and cybersecurity, education and law. Among them are current and former TU faculty.

Kouo is an assistant professor in the College of Education’s Department of Special Education with a focus on severe developmental disorders and autism, as well as founder of EduCoLab, a consultancy connecting industries such as engineering and medicine to educational best practices.

Parrish received both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from TU and taught in the Department of Special Education for eight years. She is currently the director of development and learning systems at the Johns Hopkins University IDEALS Institute.

O’Donohue is COO at Nyla Technology Solutions, a software systems provider to the federal government. Perlin is director of development at Camps Airy & Louise, summer camps for Jewish boys and girls, respectively. Rosenblatt is a marketing and business development professional and adjunct professor at the Communty College of Baltimore County. Shank is the principal at Bellator Law, where she focuses in general civil litigation, family law and landlord-tenant law.

“The 2019 Leading Women honorees are extremely accomplished. They are the next generation of women leaders in Maryland who are committed to professional accomplishments, community involvement and inspiring change,” says Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They are the future.”

The honorees will be recognized at an awards reception on Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Westin Annapolis and will be profiled in the Dec. 3 issue of The Daily Record.
