The new semester is here. What to expect this spring at TU.

A new year is now well underway, and all that is in store for 2020 only means that momentum at Towson University will continue throughout the year.

With the first day of the spring semester, Monday marks significant change for the TU community — and an opportunity to create individual momentum, too.

As the spring semester begins, TU students may find this checklist handy for important dates, events and more.

The basics for your calendar

TU realizes schedules change and students need to either drop or add a class. Here are some important dates to remember for the fall academic term.

Jan. 27: First day of classes
Jan. 30: Last day to add or drop first 7-week courses
Feb. 4: Last day to add or drop full semester courses
Feb. 24: Last day to withdraw from first 7-week courses
March 15-22: Spring Break
March 23: Classes resume
March 27: Last day to drop 2nd 7-week courses.
April 6: Last day to withdraw from full semester courses with a “W.”
April 21: Last day to withdraw from 2nd 7-week course with a grade of 'W.'
May 9:  Last Saturday class
May 12: Last day of classes
May 13 : Final Exams begin
May 19: Last day of exams and end of semester
May 20-21: Commencement ceremonies

Construction updates

Continue to take in the progress on the Science Complex and the University Union. The Science Complex has reached it's final height and interior work is well underway. It will open later in 2020; the Union pegged for 2021.

Dining changes

Later this year, the Glen Dining Hall will re-open after receiving a much-needed face lift. The 21,000 square-foot renovation is set to include a new touch-screen ordering system, six new food stations, flexible pop-up stations, a kitchen expansion, an updated dish washing room, and new mechanical and electrical systems.

With the Glen Marketplace set to reopen, the Susquehanna Food Court will close as part of the University Union’s on-going renovation.

These changes are expected to take place around Spring Break — with more information to come as the semester progresses.

Dean Chapman Quad debut

The site where the former Stephens Annex sat is being re-imagined. It will become The Dean Chapman Quad, a gathering space named in honor of TU's first Dean of Minority Affairs. The campus can expect to see significant progress as the weather begins to turn this spring.

Athletics

All Towson University students get free admittance to all Towson Tigers athletic contests. So go cheer on the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams as they push toward the CAA Tournament. Go support the teams' Autism Awareness games — Feb. 1 for the men and Feb. 16 for the women.

You can also grab free tickets to the nationally ranked men’s lacrosse team, and perennial CAA favorite women’s lacrosse team. There is also baseball, softball, gymnastics, swimming and diving, the annual spring football game and more. Check out TowsonTigers.com for more information at TU Athletics.

Towson University students and graduates are making a difference across the world. Students wishing to take part in the Study Abroad program have a registration deadline of March 15. Get all the info you need at the Feb. 6 Study Abroad Fair.

Towson 360 » Thursday, Feb. 6, 11 a.m. at West Village commons

Towson 360 is an event that allows students to learn more about involvement opportunities at TU and in the larger Towson community. Students can meet on- and off-campus employers, nonprofit organizations, and apartment vendors to hear how the Towson community can support you.
 
Spring Mega Job and Internship Fair »  Friday, March 27, 11 a.m. at SECU Arena

The Career Center invites over 200 employers to campus to network with students who are looking for internship, summer, part-time and full-time opportunities. Along with the potential to find a student’s next step, it also offers a chance for students to get practice in searching for jobs.

The Big Give » Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24

The Big Give is TU's week of giving, organized through the Division of University Advancement. The inaugural Big Give was a big success. This year's looks to build on that momentum.
 
The Big Event » Saturday, April 25, 8 a.m. at SECU Arena

The Big Event is TU’s largest day of community service where students, staff, faculty, and alumni give back to the Towson community.

Tigerfest

Tigerfest is an annual celebration of the best aspects of student life at Towson University. Traditionally held during the second week of April, Tigerfest features arts, athletics, academics, an outdoor festival, a concert at SECU Arena. Follow the Campus Activity Board’s social media accounts to find out who is playing and a complete schedule.
