What you need to know for winter break
From updated hours of operation to important reminders, here’s what you need to know as we head toward the holidays
Check out all the details you need to prepare for your well-earned winter break.
Housing
All traditional residence halls will close at 9 a.m. on Tues., Dec. 16 and will reopen at 12 p.m. on Sat., Jan 24. Tigers cannot stay in their dorm rooms over break.
Get answers to your questions about what to do before leaving, closing inspection, vacant spaces, HVAC settings, TU’s late departure policy and the housing contract cancellation policy for students planning not to return to university housing in the spring.
Campus Rec
Campus Rec will have modified hours due to winter break, as follows:
Mon., Dec. 15
- Campus Rec Center - 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- OAC - Closed
- Burdick Pool - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Membership and Guest Services – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tues., Dec. 16 to Sat., Jan. 24
All campus recreation facilities are closed.
Spring 2026 operational hours will begin on Sun., Jan. 25 at 12 p.m.
Counseling Center
Towson University’s Counseling Center will be closed starting Fri., Dec. 19. It will reopen on Mon., Jan. 5. During winter break, while the center is closed, students still have access to emotional help by using the following resources:
- Protocall - Students can call TUCC at 410-704-2512 to be connected with a mental health professional for support from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) - MCRT consists of two social workers from the Counseling Center who co-respond with Towson University Police Department (TUPD) officers to campus crises. MCRT offers support to callers by working to de-escalate the situation, connecting the individual to resources and assessing for safety. The MCRT can be contacted by calling TUPD at 410-704-4444. TUPD will send out the MCRT with an officer if an MCRT member is on shift and available. Click on this link for more information about MCRT.

Basic Needs Hub
Towson University’s Basic Needs Hub will be closed starting Fri., Dec. 19 and will reopen on Mon., Jan. 5. During minimester, (Jan. 5 – Jan. 25) the Hub will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday.
Library Services
The Albert S. Cook Library will be open Dec. 16-19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From Dec. 20 to Jan. 1, the library is closed for Winter Break. However, TU affiliates
have access to the library’s 24/7 study areas with their OneCard.
The library hours for minimester will begin Mon. Jan 5, and will be open Mon.-Fri. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Jan. 24. The library will return to regular hours at the start of the spring semester on Mon., Jan. 25.
BWI and Penn Station Shuttles
Parking & Transportation Services is giving free rides to BWI Airport and Penn Station when you reserve your seat on the Thanksgiving or Winter Break BWI-Penn Shuttle. TU students, faculty and staff are welcome to ride from Dec. 12 to Dec. 16.
