The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) awarded Towson University the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Affiliate Grant for FY26.

The grant enables Lynn Patterson DCD, the College of Fine Arts and Communication’s first professor of practice, to helm a program of professional development for Maryland public high school teachers who teach media arts in career and technical education (CTE) and interactive media production (IMP) programs.

It is the fourth year in a row Patterson has been awarded a grant from the MSDE for this purpose.

The CTE Career Cluster and Program Affiliate Grant provides federal Perkins funds to two- and four-year colleges and universities, community-based organizations and nonprofits to partner with the MSDE to support Maryland’s vision for career and technical education.

CTE programs support Maryland secondary and postsecondary students with structured pathways that integrate academic knowledge, technical skills and career-connected learning experiences while earning college credit and or industry certifications to support their transition to higher education and/or the workforce.
