Towson University earns UEC Designation from Society of Actuaries
Actuarial program at TU among just 24 worldwide selected to grant university-earned credit toward the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) credential
Towson University’s actuarial science program has been officially recognized by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) as part of the University-Earned Credit (UEC) Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE). With this distinction, TU joins an elite group of 24 institutions worldwide authorized to grant academic credit that contributes directly to the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) credential, meaning students do not have to take time-consuming and stressful exams to pursue careers in actuarial science.
This honor reflects the rigor, quality and alignment of TU's coursework with professional actuarial standards. It allows students to accelerate progress toward the ASA designation based on strong performance in university-level classes. The SOA selected the university in tandem with the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
By joining the UEC-approved cadre of programs, TU reaffirms its commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers in risk, finance and data analytics. The recognition further strengthens the pathway from classrooms to the actuarial profession, offering TU students a more direct route toward earning credentials and advancing in their field.
