Towson University launches first artificial intelligence tracks in computer science
As AI is reshaping nearly every industry, TU is introducing a new major to help students prepare for the future, workforce
Beginning in fall 2026, Towson University will offer new artificial intelligence (AI) tracks within its Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) in computer science programs. These are the university's first academic AI specializations and represent an important step in expanding opportunities for students pursuing one of today's fastest-growing fields.
The new tracks provide students with a focused pathway in artificial intelligence and machine learning while building on the strong foundation of TU's existing computer science programs. Students will study topics such as machine learning, intelligent systems and AI applications through coursework that emphasizes practical, hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving.
The addition of the AI tracks aligns with Towson University's commitment to innovation in artificial intelligence research and education, complementing the work of the Towson Artificial Intelligence Institute (TAI). As AI continues to transform industries including healthcare, cybersecurity, finance, education and software development, the new tracks will equip graduates with the knowledge and technical skills needed to meet growing workforce demand.
Learn more about the new AI tracks on the Department of Computer Science webpages and in the university catalog.
