TU celebrated the second-annual Mentor Appreciation Night, dedicated to mentors who work with the College of Education alumni in area schools. The mentorship helps educators hone their skills, gain confidence and step into their futures with purpose. Several mentors are part of TU’s strong alumni community that cultivates career-long mentoring and professional development opportunities across Maryland and beyond.

The mentors received tickets to TU’s women’s basketball game against William & Mary and enjoyed food, drinks and activities. COE student volunteers assisted with planning and leading activities with children ages 12 and under.

During the game, COE Dean Laurie Mullen honored the teachers who are currently mentoring TU alumni and teachers. Mentors help newly graduated teachers navigate the first years of their career and provide support and reassurance. The alumni reflect on their experiences with mentorship at TU and how it impacted their teaching journey.

Mentors in attendance were invited to the court during halftime, and the video was broadcast on the jumbotron.
