On April 24, three students analyzed data, answered panel questions and won scholarships at Towson University's Data Analytics Competition. They have worked since February creating reports, visualizations and final presentations.

Data analytics is the art of turning raw information into meaningful insights. By applying powerful tools, techniques and algorithms, analysts uncover patterns and metrics that help organizations make smarter decisions.

In this competition, held in partnership with TU's Division of Business & Public Engagement, College of Business & Economics, Fisher College of Science & Mathematics and College of Fine Arts & Communication, participants received a complex dataset and a set of real-world questions to solve.

Competitors uncovered insights and shared them through compelling visualizations and a brief report. The top 10 teams advanced to the final round, where they presented their analyses to a panel of industry expert judges.

This competition was sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum.
