Towson University introduces mid-Atlantic tuition rate to expand access and affordability
New regional tuition initiative creates greater value for students across six neighboring states and Washington, D.C.
Towson University (TU) has introduced a new mid-Atlantic tuition rate beginning fall 2027, expanding affordability and access for undergraduate students from across the region. The initiative will provide a dedicated and value-enhanced tuition rate for students residing in Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, reinforcing TU's commitment to serving students throughout the mid-Atlantic while enriching the university's learning community.
The new tuition model is designed to make education at Towson University more accessible to students beyond Maryland by offering additional value beyond the current competitive out-of-state tuition rate. The initiative reflects the university's ongoing efforts to attract talented students from diverse geographic backgrounds and ensure greater affordability for families across the region.
"Towson University long has been a destination for students from across the nation, especially from the Mid-Atlantic region. This new tuition rate strengthens our commitment to access and opportunity," says President Mark Ginsberg. “TU’s exceptional education should not be limited by state borders. By creating more affordable pathways for students in the Mid-Atlantic region, we will provide greater access to the transformative academic, professional and personal experiences that define the Towson University experience."
The rate supports TU's strategic goal of expanding opportunity while creating a dynamic campus environment that reflects the diversity of the region. Bringing together students with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds enhances classroom discussions, strengthens campus life and better prepares graduates for today's interconnected workforce.
The regional tuition model will help attract and retain students who seek the academic quality, career preparation and vibrant campus experience for which TU is known. The initiative also supports the university's role as a public institution serving Maryland and the broader Mid-Atlantic region.
