The 2026-27 academic year is off to a strong start. 
 
Rankings have distinguished TU as a national leader in access, student outcomes and teaching excellence, as we have been named the No. 1 public university in Maryland, No. 4 in the North and No. 36 in the country.  
 
This fall, we welcomed nearly 6,000 new students to our TU community, including nearly 3,300 first-time freshmen—the largest and most academically accomplished first-year class in our 160-year history. This milestone follows four consecutive years of record-breaking applications and helped push our total enrollment above 20,000 students for the first time since 2021. 
 
We have also set record-highs in Honors College and doctoral student enrollment, further solidifying TU as a destination for academic talent and scholarship at the highest level. 
  
Our rankings and enrollment success tell an important story about our strength and momentum. Even more, they represent growing confidence in Towson University. And that confidence is thanks to our exceptional faculty and staff who make TU a place where students want to enroll, belong and succeed.

State of the University Address

Earlier this month, I delivered my first State of The University Address, where I challenged the university community to think beyond the status quo and instead push what is possible. As TU continues to redefine excellence in the state of Maryland, I asked our community to help elevate TU to national prominence.
