Looking for ways to get ahead this spring break? The Career Center and the Study Abroad and Away Office have got you covered.

Whether you're looking to spruce up your resume, job shadow with local employers, explore career opportunities abroad or look your best for an interview, spring break is a great time to prepare.

“Spring Break 2026 is the perfect moment to hit reset, refocus, and power up your career momentum!" says Wil Preston, director of Career Communities in the Career Center. "Use this time to map out your internship and job search strategy, reconnect with your long-term career goals, and step confidently into the opportunities ahead."

Study abroad in Barcelona

Want to explore career development outside of the U.S.?

The interdisciplinary faculty-led program, TU Career Exploration and Professional Development in Spain enables you to engage with international employers and secure real-life skills you'll apply when you embark on your job search—including how to write a resume and cover letter, interview, network and become financially literate.

Rosemary Riel, program director and associate director of career education and equity in the Career Center, is an avid advocate for experiential learning—especially abroad. Alumni of the spring break program have returned home with a broadened perspective on their own career paths.

"This is a unique opportunity to compare and contrast the world of work and different industries. There's a lot of career exploration and self-development within this experience,” Riel says. “It drives a lot of critical thinking around job exploration, and it can be a challenging way to learn more about yourself."

An added plus? This course (EDUC121) earns you two credits toward your degree, and financial aid opportunities are available.

Applications for the spring 2027 course are now open, giving you ample time to prepare your application and to establish a budget before the Oct. 15 deadline.

Getting involved with a Career Community of your interest will help you expand your career network and connect with alumni and peers who share your professional interests.

"As you gear up for the spring recruiting season and upcoming career fairs, practice your elevator pitch with friends and family," Preston says, "It’s a fun, low pressure way to sharpen your message and boost your confidence before the real conversations begin.”

Reaching out to employers and alumni in your professional field via Handshake, Tiger Mentor Network or LinkedIn are additional great ways to build your network.
