Towson University continues to increase its commitment to research and innovation with the introduction of the Towson Artificial Intelligence Institute (TAI).

In alignment with the 2025 Maryland AI Enablement Strategy, TU’s establishing of the TAI enables faculty and students to apply AI in science, health care, business, education, the arts and beyond to foster impactful and ethical innovation that is responsive to societal needs.

The current incorporation of AI research and education across academic disciplines at TU is extensive and has already made significant impacts on the future of AI education and integration in higher education. The TAI will support the streamlining of these efforts and the expansion of undergraduate and graduate-level research and professional development in the realm of AI.

Still to come, the TAI will continue to collaborate with industry partners, government agencies and beyond to develop and implement AI solutions and will pursue external funding to sustain research, expand education programs and accelerate the impact of the institute.
