Towson University and the Baltimore Blast have renewed their partnership, extending the professional indoor soccer team’s lease at SECU Arena and reaffirming a collaboration that has connected the university and the Greater Baltimore region since 2017.

The renewed agreement continues the Blast’s role as a tenant at TU’s state-of-the-art SECU Arena, a venue known for its fan-friendly design, safety, and intimate game-day atmosphere. Since relocating home games to TU nearly a decade ago, the Blast have benefited from the arena’s modern amenities while bringing professional sports audiences to campus.

“The Baltimore Blast is happy to renew our lease with Towson University, solidifying our position with the university which has been ongoing since 2017,” the organization said in a statement. “We value the beauty, efficiency, safety and overall conditions of SECU Arena and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”

University leaders echoed that enthusiasm, noting the partnership’s role in advancing Towson’s mission as an anchor institution that supports community engagement, economic vitality and shared regional pride through athletics.

“We are pleased that Towson University has extended our partnership with the Baltimore Blast, a relationship that brings great pride and opportunity to our community,” says TU President Mark R. Ginsberg. “Each year, thousands of Marylanders enjoy championship-level professional sports right here in Baltimore County while also experiencing the energy and vibrancy of TU’s campus. We’re excited to continue our relationship with the Blast and celebrate all that this partnership brings to our university and our region.”

The partnership renewal will be formally recognized at a press conference on Sunday, Jan. 18, with representatives from Towson University and the Baltimore Blast expected to discuss the continued impact of the collaboration on fans, student-athletes and the Greater Baltimore community.

The agreement ensures SECU Arena remains home to top-tier professional indoor soccer while strengthening the longstanding relationship between Towson University and one of Baltimore’s most storied sports franchises.
