Welcome home, Tigers!

Today marks the start of a new academic year, but campus has already been abuzz as students moved in, reunited with friends and enjoyed dozens of weekend events celebrating their return. It has been wonderful to meet our newest Tigers and see so many familiar faces back at TU.

This year, we welcomed nearly 6,000 new students to our TU community, including our largest first-year class in university history, with more than 3,250 freshmen. Together with our returning students, they form a vibrant body of nearly 20,000 students who enrich our campus with their energy and passion for the future.

I am also pleased to see our 3,115 faculty and staff members together again and welcome our 167 new additions who will contribute to the exceptional support and education our students receive every day.

There is much to experience this semester, starting with our first Tiger Tuesday Bash of the year to kick off our weekly tradition of TU Pride. We will have music, games, prizes and everyone’s favorite—free food—for all students, staff and faculty to enjoy. We also celebrate our first football game of the year Thursday night against Maine in a rare weeknight season opener. I hope to see all of you at a packed Johnny Unitas Stadium cheering our Tigers to victory!

We have a fall filled with events that showcase our talented community, from research forums to athletic competitions and fine arts shows. Please also save the date for my State of the University Address on Wednesday, Sept. 9, where I will reflect on our historic successes and share the bold opportunities that lie ahead.

It is sure to be another great year at Towson University. I can't wait to see what together we can accomplish next.

Go Tigers!

Sincerely,

Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D.
