Position

The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2023.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics by August 2023. Department needs include operations research, computational mathematics or analysis. Outstanding candidates in other mathematical fields matching faculty research interests will be given full consideration.

Responsibilities

Faculty are assigned an instructional workload of five or six course units (three credit hours each) per academic year. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at all levels is essential. The successful candidate will establish a productive research program with a willingness to pursue external funding opportunities. The department is strongly committed to undergraduate research.

The Department of Mathematics has 51 full-time faculty and over 150 math majors. We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, with concentrations in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Secondary Education, as well as three masters degrees in Actuarial Science and Predictive Analytics, Applied and Industrial Mathematics, and Secondary Education.
