College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Theatre Arts beginning August 2020.
Terminal degree in theatre or performance studies and professional theatre experience. Demonstrated abilities as a classroom/studio teacher and a record of creative activity and/or scholarship. Seeks an assistant professor with a specialty in directing and experience with varied models of performance creation, self- producing, and embracing new technology. The ideal candidate will also have a background that includes theatre of diverse communities. International theatre experience as well as experience in multicultural, diversity, and power and privilege practice are highly desired.
The position carries a 3/4 course load with responsibilities to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs, and to direct in the department’s mainstage season, as needed. Service to department, including administrative contributions to the MFA, and active engagement in creative activity and scholarship expected.
The Department of Theatre Arts enjoys a strong reputation in the region for quality training and a dedicated faculty. The undergraduate program provides a rigorous theatre education within a liberal arts context. The department offers a BFA in Acting, as well as a BA/BS in Theatre Arts with tracks in Design and Production, and Theatre Studies.
