The Towson University Police Department is a comprehensive, full-service agency dedicated to providing fair, impartial and professional police services to the Towson University community. We are nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Our guiding values are integrity, fairness and service and we pursue excellence through community policing, crime prevention, high visibility patrols and meticulous criminal investigation.
Through the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff, and with the assistance and cooperation of the university community, TU continues to be one of the safest campuses within the University System of Maryland. Towson has also been recognized as one of the safest universities in the nation. We have received the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award for more than 30 consecutive years, and we received an award in traffic safety from the Maryland Highway Safety Office.
Our goal is to continue working with the Towson University community to make this campus a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. In addition to preventing and fighting crime, we strive to prepare the campus community for the various hazards and emergencies we may face ranging from severe weather to criminal threat.
