The Towson University Police Department is a comprehensive, full-service agency dedicated to providing fair, impartial and professional police services to the Towson University community. We have the unique distinction of being accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Agencies (IACLEA). Our guiding values are integrity, fairness and service. We pursue excellence through community policing, crime prevention, high-visibility patrols and meticulous criminal investigation.
Through the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff, and with the assistance and cooperation of the university community, Towson University is one of the safest campuses in the nation. The TUPD has received the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award for more than 30 consecutive years, as well as awards in traffic and pedestrian safety from the Maryland Highway Safety Office.
Our job is never done, and we continuously work with the Towson University community to make TU's campus a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. In addition to preventing and fighting crime, we strive to prepare the campus community for potential hazards and emergencies, ranging from severe weather to criminal threats.
I encourage you to join me in our fight against crime, as well as our mission of sustained emergency preparedness. The information on our Public Safety site is designed to keep you aware of potential dangers, reduce your risk of becoming a crime victim, and guide you in emergency situations. Together, we can make this campus community as safe as possible.
