SAGE mentors assist students with career choice, major and minor selection, course registration, identifying campus activities, employment, roommate relationships, financial aid, navigating campus and other issues as they occur. Mentors and mentees meet weekly and develop lasting relationships!

A mentor is a wise and trusted counselor or teacher or influential supporter (from Random House Dictionary 1987). SAGE Program mentors serve as role models of academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, service, and caring for others. SAGE Program mentors welcome new students to the Towson University community and help them become part of the Towson University family. SAGE Program mentors encourage new students to commit time and effort to their studies. Mentors also maintain weekly, in person, contact with their assigned students and encourage their involvement in campus organizations and activities. SAGE Program mentors and new students are encouraged to maintain their connection to one another throughout the year. Mentors befriend new students. Both share information about their academic and career goals, family life, hobbies, dreams, and work to resolve any challenges that occur throughout the year.
