Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, + (LGBTQ+) Student Development Program

The LGBTQ+ Student Development Program strives to create an inclusive and educated campus community where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, etc. (LGBTQ+) and all students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and sex are welcomed, supported, valued, and engaged.

Objectives

The LGBTQ+ Student Development Program fosters community development and empowerment for this population, through leadership development and student organization involvement, professional/career development and internship opportunities, peer mentorship, educational outreach, and programming that explores topics of sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression that speak to dimensions of history, health and wellness, socio-political location, cultural celebration and community development.

The LGBTQ+ Student Development program also serves the larger Towson University community through programming that fosters educational awareness of the LGBTQ+ community and exploration of issues affecting this population, to ultimately empower all students to be more culturally competent and supportive of LGBTQ+ students and create a more inclusive campus climate.

Programs

The extensive programming that we offer covers all intersections of LGBTQ+ identities, issues and experiences. If you are a first year or transfer student there is New And Q and if you are a graduate student we have regular graduate student meet ups. Check out what we have, we look forward to seeing you!

Events

Throughout the academic year we host various events that bring together our LGBTQ+ community and allies. One of our favorite keystone events is the Lavendar Celebration to honor and celebrate the achievments and leadership of our remarkable students. You can find more of our events below, on the linked page or on the TU Master Events Calendar!

Services

There is a wide range of internal and external services available to students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors to accommodate the needs of the university community. You can find All Gender Bathrooms here or local queer, Trans, and Non-binary resources that support and empower.

The LGBTQ+ Student Development and Diversity Program has a lot to offer for our future leaders!
