Global Village

Global Village is a community for both international and domestic students attending Towson University. Students living in this community will have the opportunity to connect with students from different cultures and countries in a variety of ways including international and domestic roommate pairing, annual events, and programming. This community is in partnership with the International Student & Scholar Office (ISSO) and Housing & Residence Life.

Community Benefits

  • Live within an integrated floor of domestic and international students
  • Additional programming opportunities in collaboration with the International Student & Scholar Office and the International Student Association
  • More kitchen space than the average Towson University residence hall

What are the eligibility requirements?

The community is open to incoming and returning students who have 30 or fewer credits at the end of Fall 2016.

Do I have to be an International or Exchange Student to live in Global Village?

No, Global Village is open to all students that meet the eligibility requirements. We do our best to pair International and Domestic students together as roommates in Global Village.

How do I apply?
  • Current residents: Applications will be available in Spring 2017.
  • New students interested in Global Village must complete the online housing request process. This includes paying a $350 non-refundable housing deposit and agreeing to the terms and conditions of the housing contract. During the online process students will be able to identify interest in Global Village. Residents are selected for the community based on the completion of the eligibility requirements listed above.

What staffing is there for the community?

The community will have three Resident Assistants, multiple Liaisons and Role Models, and an International Student Scholar Office (ISSO) Graduate Student.  Additionally, there will be support from the International Student Scholar Office, the International Student Association, and Housing & Residence Life.

How do I make a special accommodation request?

Through the online housing request process there will be an opportunity to complete a special accommodation request.

How many roommates would I have?

Student rooms are suite style, (i.e., two double rooms sharing a bath).  During the fall semester, tripled rooms are located in this community, so there is a potential for a room with three roommates

 When was Global Village established?

International Housing has existed at Towson University since prior to 1997. In 2010 the name was changed to Global Village.  In Fall 2016 Global Village moved to Tower D.
