Timeline

April 9 and May 1, 2018 – Blackboard update announcement to campus through T3, the Blackboard Updates web page, and the Blackboard Login page.

Spring 2018 - Demos were available on campus and online (April - May). 

August 11, 2018   Blackboard was updated to Q4 2017 on August 11, 2018. See the T3 announcement.

The Blackboard Adoption Initiative

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) and the Academic Committee on Technology (ACT) are working together to collect feedback and provide improvements to Towson University's Blackboard Environment. Read more about the initiative in the Executive Summary (PDF).  

Improvements

Based on research from the Blackboard Adoption Initiative, OTS' Information Technology Support Centers group has identified improvements to facilitate more usage. Highlights of improvements will be listed on this page, and detailed changes can be found in the Campus Guidance Log (PDF). 

These are the categories:

  • Education, Documentation & Video: documentation and video tutorials created
  • Training/Consultations: updated and customized workshops & consults
  • Service Awarenessfeatures that are already available but users are unaware
  • Configuration Requestschanging the Bb environment to improve user experience
  • Wish Listenhancement request to Bb Inc. or researching vendors with Bb integrations

These are the highlights:

October 2017 

New Blackboard PeopleSoft Integration: grouping courses by terms, faster student enrollments, accurate Faculty assignments, and updated user account information (Configuration Requests).  

Faculty can schedule an appointment with a Blackboard support representative for questions or technical issues with their course (Training/Consultations).

August 2017

TU specific documentation and video tutorials have been created: Faculty Resources & Student Resources webpages (Education, Documentation & Video).

Multiple attempt filtering, mobile/tablet friendly, easily upload multiple files, submission receipts for students, library TSEM enrollments (Configuration Requests). 

July 2018

Blackboard support returned to campus. Effective June 30, 2018, Towson University ended its contract with the remote service, Blackboard 24/7 support. In response to faculty requests and on-going research, all Blackboard support for faculty and students is provided by the newly expanded on-campus TU Blackboard team.
