Towson University (TU) is pleased to accept applications for the Vice President of University Marketing and Communications (UMC). The Division of University Marketing and Communications is comprised of a team of experts who lead and partner with the campus community to develop innovative communications strategies and advance the university’s goals by elevating awareness and affinity and promoting TU’s reputation as a national leader in higher education. The division fosters a collaborative environment that is grounded in creativity, respect and diversity. The division is organized into four functional units—Communications and Media Relations, Creative Services, Digital Strategy, and Marketing and Brand Strategy. These units build alliances to create interest in the university while strengthening its visibility, brand and influence, and communications with all stakeholders.
The vice president reports directly to the president, serves as the chief marketing and communications officer and provides guidance on institutional initiatives. As an adviser and collaborator, the VP will serve as a member of President’s Cabinet and collaborate across colleges and divisions to advance the university’s mission and strategic plan. This position is also charged with ensuring that different ideas are brought forth to build a unified campus voice. The VP will serve as a communications expert, and will represent the university in support of partnerships and collaborations that TU has developed across Greater Baltimore. This role is tasked with promoting TU’s relevance, accomplishments and excellence to elevate the university’s presence and prestige in local, regional and national media.
