Access surplus food and allergy-friendly meals at TU
Learn about the variety of ways you can access food that meets your needs on campus
Whether you’re looking for meals that support your dietary requirements or additional food to support your needs throughout the week, Tiger Hospitality provides students and staff with a variety of dietary and allergen-friendly meals and solutions.
"Dining should be one less thing students have to worry about," says Bethany Comegys, marketing manager for Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, TU’s food provider, "Tiger Hospitality is proud to offer resources that make eating on campus both easier and more meaningful, whether that’s through allergen support, sustainability programs, or access to fresh, nutritious food."
Access surplus food
Tiger Hospitality partners with Too Good to Go, an app designed to reduce food waste and give access to good food that could otherwise be discarded.
Available through all dining halls and food retail locations on campus, Too Good to Go enables you to access additional fresh food as needed and contribute to TU’s mission of fighting food waste.
Allergen solution stations
Do you have specific dietary needs? Glen Dining Hall and West Village Dining Hall have you covered with allergen solution stations. These stations offer a variety of meals crafted without the top nine allergens and gluten.
If you have any food-allergy-related questions, Allergy Captains are here to support you at all dining locations on campus. Look for a Tiger Hospitality member wearing a purple hat with a white star; they’re happy to help!
Allergy Captains train and work closely with Tiger Hospitality’s registered dietitian Holly Delagrange to ensure that your dietary and allergen needs are valued and met during your time at TU.
Stress Less Zones
Mealtime doesn’t have to be stressful. To support all dietary needs on campus, all residential dining locations offer pantry-style Stress Less Zones. These zones offer food made without gluten, peanuts and tree nuts as well as vegan options
To prevent cross contact, these zones host a fridge, pantry and microwave that are allergy friendly.
Fresh food at your fingertips
Babylon, TU’s hydroponic farm unit produces fresh microgreens grown on campus. Microgreens are fresh produce harvested before they fully mature, making them smaller, more tender and packed with concentrated nutrients compared to fully grown produce.
Microgreens are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, offering a range of health benefits and are frequently used as garnishes for meals in Glen Dining Hall and West Village Dining Hall.
Support sustainability
In addition to growing fresh microgreens on campus, Tiger Hospitality and the Office of Sustainability work closely with the Food Recovery Network, a student-run organization dedicated to reducing food waste at TU.
The Food Recovery Network gathers all unused food portions—perishable and non-perishable—and donates them to local organizations and churches in the Towson area.
They also contribute to the Basic Needs Hub – TU's on-campus resource that provides students with critical resources including food, housing security, clothing and access to academic tools.
