Champion Your Health Day brings active aging to TU
Multigenerational event highlights wellness, movement and community partnership
Towson University and the Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) welcomed community members for Champion Your Health Day on May 28, a multigenerational wellness event held on campus at TU’s Towson Center.
Designed to support physical and mental well-being during Older Americans Month and in connection with National Senior Health and Fitness Day, the event invited participants to customize their experience through a wide range of activities tailored to different interests and ability levels.
Attendees engaged in movement classes such as line dancing, chair yoga, tai chi and enhanced fitness sessions, alongside interactive experiences including batting cage practice and a golf swing simulator. Educational workshops covered topics like fitness goal-setting, balance and fall prevention and nutrition, while sensory and mind–body offerings, including sound bath meditation and self-massage techniques, provided opportunities for relaxation and recovery.
Health screenings and recovery room massages were available throughout the day, reinforcing the event’s focus on preventive care and overall wellness. Participants also had the opportunity to work directly with Towson University faculty from the College of Health Professions, student athletes and BCDA instructors through personalized fitness sessions.
The event emphasized accessibility and inclusivity, encouraging individuals of all fitness levels to participate. Complimentary water bottles, on-site dining options and accessible parking near supported a comfortable and engaging experience.
Champion Your Health Day underscored the power of collaboration between Towson University and BCDA while celebrating active aging and lifelong wellness. By bringing generations together through movement, education and connection, the event aimed to inspire participants to prioritize their health and continue building healthy habits beyond the day’s programs.
