An evening of impact and appreciation
Celebrating the power of scholarship support at Towson University
In a room filled with gratitude and a sense of familiarity, stories of resilience and generosity took center stage. Nearly 350 donors, students, faculty, staff and alumni gathered for a special night celebrating the lasting impact of scholarship support on the lives of Towson Univerisity students.
The annual Towson University Foundation (TUF) Celebration of Donors and Scholars highlights the impact of donor generosity through a selection of speakers who share their journeys. Throughout the evening, donors and scholarship recipients had the opportunity to connect, further strengthening the relationships between those who give and those who benefit.
TUF board president Edna Primrose welcomed guests and expressed gratitude to everyone in attendance. Senior Isabella Minervini, a two-time All-American gymnast, shared her story of perseverance, while TU President Mark R. Ginsberg emphasized the profound impact of philanthropic support and how scholarships allow students to focus on their academic and personal growth.
Economics professor Seth Gitter, Ph.D., shared details of his research that validated how student scholarship recipients thrive when given the opportunity to retake a course. The Stearns Second Chance Scholarship provides support for students facing academic challenges. Scholarship recipient Yannis Carliez '26 shared his gratitude through a video, reflecting on the impact of encouragement during challenging moments.
The evening also highlighted the James Patterson Scholarship, with student recipient Xavier Hughes sharing how the award created the opportunity to grow and fully engage in his college journey. Kaitlyn Wilson, Ph.D., the inaugural Douglas ’80 and Therese Erdman Term Professor in Autism Studies, spoke about the impact of donor support on her work at the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism. The evening closed with student keynote speaker Chinenye Ofor '27, representing the Honors College. Chinenye reflected on her journey of growth, leadership, and belonging.
In 2025, TUF awarded 1,342 scholarships, totaling $2.8 million and affecting recipients in countless ways.
Together, the stories shared throughout the evening served as a reminder of the lasting impact of generosity, connection and belief in students’ potential.
