Towson University has earned national recognition across several prominent higher education rankings, highlighting the university's reputation for academic excellence and demonstrated success in student outcomes.  

U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Programs 

Three College of Health Professions graduate programs were recognized among the nation’s best in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings.  

  • Occupational Therapy: TU ranked tied for No. 23 in the country and No. 1 in Maryland among the top programs for occupational therapists at the master's and/or doctorate level. The list was out of 289 accredited doctoral and master's degree programs nationwide.    
  • Audiology: TU tied for No. 34 in the country for best doctorate in audiology. The ranking was based on 74 accredited schools and programs offering doctorates in audiology. 
  • Speech Pathology: TU’s master of science in speech pathology ranks tied for No. 54 in the nation out of 287 accredited master's programs. 

Poets & Quants 

In the annual Poets & Quants rankings, TU’s College of Business & Economics was named the No. 27 public undergraduate business school in the country and No. 72 overall among both public and private universities. The organization evaluates programs based on admission standards, academic experience and career outcomes—an area where TU continues to excel. TU ranked No. 46 nationally for career outcomes, based on employment rates within three months of graduation, internship participation and average first-year compensation. 

Internship experience was specifically noted as one of TU's biggest strengths, listed as one of only nine universities nationwide where 100% of its 2025 graduates completed at least one business-specific internship during their academic careers.

  • Database Management: TU’s master of science in applied information technology was rated No. 17 in the country among online master’s programs. This marks the program’s second national ranking this year, as it was also featured in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Graduate Education list.
