Myrna Cardin

Combining a passion for community involvement and public service with a degree in education from Towson University, Myrna Cardin has been involved throughout her life in organizations and institutions that work to educate and inspire children and adults.
Cardin served as chair of the Towson University Board of Visitors from 2013-2016, receiving the “Spirit of the University Award” at the conclusion of her term for her work with alumni and administrators to further the mission of the university. She also co-chaired the 150th anniversary of Towson’s founding.
As a leader in the Baltimore community, she is active on the Pikesville Armory Advisory Board, and she has led the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore and the Baltimore Jewish Council. She has been a member of the boards of Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women, Jewish Community Services, Kennedy Krieger Institute, the University of Maryland Foundation and The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore.
While her husband Ben Cardin served in the U.S. House of Representatives and then the U.S. Senate, Myrna Cardin chaired the March of Dimes Gala and later served on the Advisory Board of the Congressional Families Action for Cancer Awareness.
She taught in the Baltimore County Public School System and was the Executive Director of Maryland Association of Nonpublic Schools where she advocated for appropriate services for children with special needs. Cardin has been a member of the board of Dyslexia Tutoring Program and was a volunteer tutor.
Myrna Cardin has been recognized by many organizations for her leadership skills and ongoing involvement in education. Together, Ben and Myrna are the parents of Deborah Cardin and son-in-law Jonathan Willis and the proud grandparents of Madeline and Julia.
