TU in the news: Casper Wells ready for what's next

Casper Wells left Towson University in 2005 to pursue his dream of playing Major League Baseball after two years as a standout for the Tigers. 

He spent parts of four seasons with five teams from 2010-13 before being released by a minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers two years ago. A devastating fire that destroyed his childhood home refocused his attention on his family and his future—specifically finishing his degree. After being drafted in the 14th round of the 2005 MLB Draft, Wells left TU 36 credits short of graduation.

Degree now in hand, Wells has started work in medical sales. PressBox Online quotes him as saying, "Baseball is not going to define who I am in my life. I learned a lot from those experiences. I made a lot of contacts. But moving on, there's a new chapter in my life, and I'm definitely looking forward to [it]."
