The footbridge that carries pedestrians over Burke Avenue will close for repairs through early July.

The bridge – located between Towson University’s campus at the Towson University Marriott Conference Hotel – is structurally sound. The work is inspection-based maintenance focused on the upkeep of the metal on the underside of the span.

The bridge is slated to be closed to pedestrians from May 8 through early July.

The university will use signage to encourage pedestrians to use the crosswalk near York Road to cross Burke Avenue.

For travelers around campus, some lane closures will be in effect on Burke Avenue, but no full road closures are planned. The lane closures will be intermittent, to allow for a more fluid flow of traffic, and are planned to take place outside of rush hour.
