In its ninth annual roster of New York media’s top players, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) highlights 35 voices in media for their ratings, readership and revenue, as well as their ability to “speak truth to power” amid the frenzied conversation that drives today’s news.

The list includes Towson University alumni Bill Owens ’12 and Brian Stelter ’07.

THR commended Owens for doubling down on hard news since taking over as executive producer of “60 Minutes” on CBS. The article noted the show’s interviews with fired acting FBI director Andrew McCabe and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, as well as its award-winning and ongoing reporting on the opioid crisis.

Owens was named executive producer of “60 Minutes” in February. He was awarded an honorary doctorate at TU’s spring 2012 Commencement ceremony.
