Towson University officials are monitoring a storm that is forecast to bring precipitation to the Baltimore County area overnight.

Possible snow is forecast to begin around 2 a.m. and could last into the Wednesday morning commute.

During inclement weather events, Towson University officials monitor the forecast, the condition of the campus and the known road conditions from Baltimore County and surrounding police jurisdictions. They deliberate with the information they have available and then decide about campus closing, opening late, or remaining open without delay.

If the decision is to close or delay, University Marketing and Communications then posts the news on the TU homepage and social media, notifies local media, and records announcements on TU’s 410-704-2000 and 410-704-NEWS phone lines. A campus-wide email announcement and text message alerts are sent to those who have signed up to receive them.

TU does not send a communication if campus is open — no announcement means the university is open as usual.

For more information on delays and closures and how that affects buildings and services on campus, please visit our emergency closing page.

On Tuesday, TU announced the following changes to parking & shuttle service on campus:

Parking

In preparation of possible snow overnight, all campus garage roofs will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 10. Vehicles remaining after this time must be removed by 10 p.m.

On Wednesday, December 11, campus members are requested to use covered parking areas in the garages & avoid parking in surface lots to allow the areas to be cleared & treated. All permits will be accepted in Core and Overflow spaces on Wednesday. All other restrictions will remain in effect. West Village & lot 26 resident permit holders should monitor their emails for specific information related to alternative resident parking.

We appreciate your patience & cooperation during this time.

Shuttle information

Notices regarding shuttle services will be posted on the TU Tiger Ride web site and TURide mobile app. Please plan for delays if you will be using the shuttles to get to/from and around the campus on Wednesday.

TU's Office of the Provost also outlined would-be changes to exam schedules if inclement weather does change campus schedules:

Final exam procedure

If the university opens late or is closed for inclement weather during this period, the missed exam will be held on the next available FREE period allotted on the Exam Schedule. Note that online exams will not be impacted by any changes due to weather.

For example:

  • If the University opens Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m., the exam scheduled at 8:00 a.m. will be held at 10:15 a.m. on the same day, December 11th.
  • If the University opens between 10:30 and noon, the exam scheduled at 8:00 a.m. will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 10:15 a.m.
