Towson University continues to RISE, thanks to the generosity of its alumni and community members.
On April 27, the annual, one-day TU Big Give raised $240,347, a four-year best and $102,000 more than TU Big Give 2021. The 1,369 donors and their 1,539 gifts, support key projects throughout the TU community: all six colleges, the Honors College, Albert S. Cook Library, athletics, Student Emergency Funds, BTU—Partnerships for Greater Baltimore, student affairs and the Office of Inclusion & Institutional Equity.
“This year’s TU Big Give has proven to be really BIG!” says Nky McGinnis, director of the annual campaign. “I am grateful to everyone in our TU community who listened to the needs of our students, faculty and staff and helped us to RISE to the challenge. Each year, we’ve seen TU Big Give outpace our expectations in participation and funds raised. Our university’s culture of philanthropy is only growing stronger.”
Riding the energy from the launch of the historic RISE, the Campaign for Towson University in 2021, TU raised nearly $18 million during fiscal year ’21, an astounding 124% of the university’s goal for the year.
“Once again, our TU community demonstrated its commitment to our university," says TU Vice President of University Advancement Brian DeFilippis. "The TU Big Give fulfills an important goal of our historic RISE campaign. The TU Fund and annual giving are critical elements of our campaign, and this year's TU Big Give success brings us even closer to our $100 million campaign goal."
The RISE campaign features six priorities—student success, faculty excellence, academic innovation, community partnerships, building a world-class campus and sustaining opportunities through annual giving and endowment. Within each priority area are broad-based giving opportunities identified by deans, vice presidents, faculty and staff. The RISE campaign will further fuel TU’s continued progress and provide the resources necessary to achieve a bold and ambitious institutional vision, detailed in the university’s 2020–30 Strategic Plan.
