Resources for International Pronouns Day
Learn more about gender identity resources at TU
By Rebecca Kirkman on October 18, 2022

Held every third Wednesday in October, International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing and educating about personal pronouns commonplace.
Since 2019, Towson University has offered all members of the TU community the ability to select their chosen and/or preferred names for TU communications, including OneCard, email, Commencement and more. Earlier this year, TU added pronoun options to the chosen/preferred name, further expanding personal identity choices. As part of ongoing improvements, pronouns can now be featured with display names on TU Zoom accounts.
These options are part of a campus-wide commitment to inclusive excellence and one of many reasons TU was recently recognized as one of the nation’s 40 Best Universities for LGBTQ+ students. Additional work is ongoing to ensure individual identity is reflected in more systems across the university, helping support members of our community in authentically thriving at TU.
Celebrate with the Center for Student Diversity and DEI Education
On Oct. 19, the Center for Student Diversity and DEI Education at TU invite the community to stop by their table at the second floor of the University Union for trivia and a chance to earn prizes.

How to update pronouns, gender identity and chosen/preferred name
Students, faculty and staff can identify their pronouns, gender identity and chosen/preferred name for use in TU communications by completing the Chosen/Preferred Name, Pronoun & Gender Identity Request Form.
Completing this form also ensures pronouns are visible across all current university platforms able to feature them, including Zoom.
Additionally, faculty, staff and students may use the TU Brand Toolkit to generate an email signature displaying their pronouns.
