For the first time since 2019, students will have a chance to meet in-person with potential employers at the Spring Mega Job & Internship Fair.

It will be held on Friday, April 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SECU Arena. Students who are interested in attending should register through Towson University’s Handshake website. This year, the staff is excited to facilitate face-to-face interactions.

According to Manette Zinkand, associate director of external relations for the Career Center, many of the employers attending are looking forward to engaging TU students with in-person networking.

“The economy and labor force coming out of the pandemic have created such movement in workers that employers need to hire in huge numbers,” she says. “This is why we are encouraging as strong a TU student turnout as possible.”

This event is a natural extension of the university's strategic plan, as TU serves communities as an anchor institution, with socially-minded partnerships and entrepreneurial efforts advancing the greater Baltimore region and Maryland.

Employer spots were filled a month before the event, necessitating a waiting list. Career Center staff had to add extra tables to accommodate the record-high 220 employers in attendance.

“All these employers are very excited to talk to TU students about literally thousands of stimulating professional opportunities and fun learning experiences,” Zinkand says. "TU students’ internship and employment futures are very bright judging by the employer turnout for TU’s Spring Mega Job & Internship Fair.”

The fair will also feature a diverse list of employers.

“Diversity of opportunity is paramount,” Zinkand says. “TU is a major provider of talent to a number of industries. That reputation and our institution’s growing rankings, [new and renovated] campus buildings and academic program development reinforce why so many diverse industries and employers are lining up to attend this fair.”

Career Center staff recommends students prep before the event.

They can get their resumes reviewed beforehand (Career Center Express Hours for drop-in resume reviews are available March 28–31, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., University Union, room 225). Students should use the Handshake app to preview the employer list and plan for their visit. The Career Center website offers networking tips, and, during the event, Career Center staff will be on hand to help students with any questions they might have.
