Different stripes, same Tigers: TU Big Give is April 26
For just 24 hours, be part of something big
April 21, 2023

At midnight on Wednesday, April 26, the university community kicks off the fifth annual TU Big Give. Every spring the Tiger community steps up and contributes to a one-day, campuswide giving effort. This year, TU marks five years of the Big Give with some really big giving opportunities. Join the movement and show your stripes.
Match your gift and welcome a new friend to campus
Research shows that interacting with dogs increases dopamine and serotonin levels. Dogs can also deescalate stressful situations, reduce the pressure of finals and improve the overall well-being of our Tiger community. You can help bring a Canine Comfort Companion to TU’s campus! The new comfort dog will be present on campus 220 days each year, benefiting Tigers through thousands of interactions.
Bringing the dog to campus, along with training, a kennel, vet care and food will cost $12,500. When donations reach $10,000, an additional $2,500 gift from the DeFilippis family will ensure the community meets the goal. “Our family is excited to support the Canine Comfort Companion program at TU, because we know the immense value that a dog can bring to a community,” says Heather DeFilippis. “Dogs always lead with compassion and love.” Will you help TU get a canine comfort companion and truly make the fifth annual TU Big Give our most impactful yet?
Make commencement meaningful for all students
With gifts made to the Commencement Assistance Fund, TU will eliminate the financial burden by providing deserving undergraduate and graduate students with regalia, which can cost between $80-90 dollars for each graduating student. “With this resource, more students will be able to attend graduation and celebrate their accomplishments with family, friends, and the Towson community,” says Madison Paige, graduate student and vice president of the Graduate Student Association.
Join the Doc Scavenger Hunt
This year, the TU Big Give will include a student scavenger hunt. Following clues, students will find stuffed tigers hidden around campus, each associated with a sponsor. Students who find a tiger get to choose which fund the sponsor’s gift will support—and keep the tiger. Read the clues.
Special thanks to the sponsors who have already contributed $3,650 to support the scavenger hunt fun: State Employees Credit Union (SECU), Baltimore Banner, Towson Chamber of Commerce, The Bielas Family, Dennis Ferrell, Mission Media, Ledo Pizza & Pasta, Courtney Cox, Neo Pizza, The Baltimore Sun, THB Bagelry & Deli and University Promotions & Events.
