TU No. 3 public graduate education school in Maryland, among the best nationwide
U.S. News Best Education Schools ranking highlights research activity, academic excellence, faculty resources

In its 2023–24 Best Graduate Schools rankings, released April 25, U.S. News & World Report placed Towson University No. 3 among public Maryland institutions in the Best Education Schools list, which ranks the top graduate institutions nationwide.
“These rankings speak to Towson University’s reputation for academic rigor and faculty excellence,” says Interim President Melanie Perreault. “At every level of study, TU is providing students with opportunities to address contemporary challenges and create a better future. We are especially proud to be recognized for this effort in our exceptional graduate and doctoral programming.”
The publication highlights research activity, academic excellence of entering students and faculty resources among the reasons for its decision. Rankings also include input on program quality from hiring professionals and leaders at peer institutions.
Conferring more than 900 master’s and doctoral degrees each year, TU offers top-ranked graduate programs that respond to the emerging workforce needs in the region and beyond.
Program formats fit the needs of working professionals, with many available fully online. Earlier this year, U.S. News ranked TU among the best online education and computer information technology master’s programs.
Each year, the publication ranks professional school programs in business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing. While U.S. News ranks TU among education schools, the evaluation includes data and outcomes from 28 graduate programs within the College of Business & Economics, College of Education, College of Fine Arts & Communication, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts and Fisher College of Science & Mathematics.
