Looking for alternatives to traditional assessments in the age of AI? This workshop will show you how VoiceThread’s assignment submission feature can support and facilitate engaging alternatives such as narrated presentations, podcasts, annotated infographics, and gallery walks. Walk away with practical ideas for your course. 

Internships are a powerful High-Impact Practice.  But what makes them truly transformative? This interactive session brings together a community of colleagues to explore the key elements of high-quality internships, including structured reflection, meaningful feedback, and equitable access. Participants will share strategies and leave with a framework to enhance internship design for deeper student learning and engagement. 

IA CoP community members will report back from the 2025 National IA Gathering in Las Cruces, NM, including reflections on their conference presentation about the CoP titled “Finding Connections and Community through Joyous Practices.” Participants will also be introduced to new resources to creatively re-imagine their teaching, practice, and scholarship. Open to all faculty and staff. Coffee, tea, and desserts are provided.

  • Writing learning outcomes that are measurable, relevant, and student-friendly

Please join the CURE (Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience) Community of Practice (CoP) for our fall meeting. Our program will include presentations from the current cohort of FACET-sponsored CURE Developers (from CLA, FCSM, CHP, and COFAC), a panel of experienced CURE instructors, and a discussion of CURE approaches implemented this past summer in FCSM. As always, there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions and discuss CURE implementation with other faculty. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about CUREs, as well as those already familiar with this high-impact pedagogical approach.

Explore how AI can streamline and enhance your course design process. In this session, we’ll highlight AI-driven tools for creating visuals, summarizing readings, drafting assignment instructions, and improving accessibility. We will also review Blackboard’s AI Design Assistant and demonstrate tools that help faculty rapidly generate course modules and assessments. Participants will leave with practical strategies and resources to save time, boost creativity, and design engaging learning experiences.

This workshop will introduce the concept of career communities, collaborative networks that connect academic disciplines with industry pathways, and explore how faculty can leverage these communities to support student successWhether you're new to career development or already incorporating it into your teaching, this session will provide practical tools, funding opportunities, and collaborative ideas to enrich your students’ academic and professional journeys.

Capstone courses and senior seminars offer students a powerful opportunity to synthesize learning and prepare for life beyond college. This collaborative session explores what makes capstones truly high-impact, focusing on elements like public demonstration of competence, real-world application, and reflective practice. In community with colleagues, participants will share course models, discover innovative strategies, and leave with a framework and tools to deepen the learning and significance of their capstone experiences.
