Liz Shearer – Director
Liz advises for all programs in Asia and is the TU representative for the Boren Awards. Liz works closely with the Faculty Committee on Study Abroad to develop policies and procedures to facilitate successful experiences for Towson students overseas. Liz completed a B.A. in Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University in the UK and holds an M.A. in Liberal and Professional Studies from Towson University. Liz moved to the U.S. from Bristol, England in 1998 and joined the TU Study Abroad Office in 2000.
Katie Villamar - Associate Director
Katie advises for Latin America and Spain. She holds an M.A. in Intercultural Communications from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Art from Salisbury University. Katie traveled to Western Europe as a student ambassador in high school and had international education experiences in Ecuador, Mexico and Peru as an undergraduate student. Prior to her graduate students, she returned to Ecuador for one year to work as an international programs coordinator. Katie joined the TU Study Abroad Office in 2016.
Katie Lorge - Adviser
Katie advises for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Semester at Sea. Katie earned an M.A. in International Training and Education from American University, and holds a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Illinois. As an undergraduate student, she studied abroad for a semester in Valparaíso, Chile, and participated in two short-term programs first in Costa Rica, and later in Western Europe. Katie joined the TU Study Abroad Office in 2014.
Arielle Schweber - Study Abroad Specialist
Arielle advises on and administers the application and admission process for faculty-led programs. She also provides administrative support for the office, facilitates programming, and assists with the International Exchange Student Program. Arielle earned an M.A. in International Education from New York University and a B.A. in French from Dickinson College. As an undergraduate, Arielle studied for a semester in Toulouse, France and during her graduate work studied in Cuba and India.
