Provost Research Fellows Program
The purpose of the Provost Research Fellows Program is to encourage outstanding scholarship at TU by awarding merit-based grants to faculty members, as a 1-month stipend to provide time for research in the summer. Tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply.
Criteria for Selection
- Likelihood that the award will have a significant impact on the faculty member’s program
of scholarship. Preference will be given to:
- Professors and tenured associate professors whose research will be significantly enhanced by the fellowship. Assistant professors with successful third-year reviews and a large research agenda will be considered as well.
- Research active faculty who are shifting directions or increasing their scholarship in line with our strategic goals.
- Faculty who have successfully completed previous projects using other internal and/or external funding mechanisms. Please consider other internal funding mechanisms for pilot projects prior to your application for this opportunity.
- Likelihood that the work proposed for the fellowship period can be completed. Preference will be given to proposals that outline a realistic and feasible set of objectives to be accomplished during the summer fellowship period. The proposed project can be a defined portion of a larger project (e.g., completion of chapters of a book).
Application
Faculty should apply to the Associate Provost for Research by the designated due date. Application procedures and deadlines will be announced in university communications. The proposal will be no more than three pages, written to be understandable to reviewers outside of the faculty’s discipline. The proposal should at a minimum have a title, description, concisely written long-term goals and short-term outcomes, any prior internal/external funding received, and a clear explanation of the impact of fellowship on the faculty member’s scholarship agenda. In addition to the proposal, faculty must also include their CV as a seperate upload.
Faculty on three summer months of external support cannot be considered for this opportunity. In general, this is an opportunity for individual faculty, and funding cannot be split to fund teams or students.
