Accomplished Teaching for Student Impact Graduate Certificate

The Accomplished Teaching for Student Impact certificate prepares P-12 teachers in Maryland to submit for National Board Certification. Teachers who attain National Board Certification advance in their careers, earn higher salaries and gain stature within the profession.

Offered by the Department of Secondary and Middle School Education, the 12-unit certificate provides students with support and feedback on critical aspects and requirements of the National Board Certification process. Each course is aligned with one of the four components of National Board Certification.

Online and In-Person Options

You can elect to complete the certificate fully online, or in a hybrid format with online and in-person classes.

Certificate Requirements

• SCED 647 Advanced Processes of Teaching and Learning (3) — Aligned to Foundational Competencies of National Board Certification and Component 1
• ELED 648 Differentiating Instruction for Advanced Learning (3) —
  Aligned to Component 2 of National Board Certification
• EDUC 660 Matters of Diversity, Equity and Empowerment in Learning Communities (3) — Aligned to Component 3 of National Board Certification
• SPED 632 Assessment Issues for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students (3) — Aligned to Component 4 of National Board Certification

Admission Requirements and Deadlines

This certificate program is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree, and credits may be applied to a master’s degree program. View all admission requirements and deadlines. 

Applying to the Program

The certificate program is available through the Towson Learning Network. There is a separate application for programs offered at reduced tuition rates to school system employees.
