Towson University hosts NSA experts for Badolato Speaker Series

The speaker series brings to campus distinguished leaders in the field of Homeland Security to share their perspective on what needs to be done to combat terrorism and make our nation safer.

Towson University continues to host one of the top cyber security programs in the nation.

The program is recognized as a “Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations” from the National Security Agency (NSA) — only one of 13 designations nationwide.

The College of Liberal Arts and the Integrated Homeland Security Management program are proud to host the Edward V. Badolato Distinguished Speaker Series on Thursday, May 11 in CLA Building Room 4110 at 3:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at 4:30 p.m.

The Badolato Speaker Series brings to campus distinguished leaders in the field of Homeland Security to share their perspective on what needs to be done to combat terrorism and make our nation safer.

Thursday’s event is titled: “Working for the National Security Agency.” The NSA offers career opportunities in a wide variety of exciting career fields that allows those to serve their country.

The event will give attendees the inside scoop from two employees from the NSA, that will share tips on how to prepare for a career in homeland security. The panel will feature:

  • Emil Volcheck, an expert on the technical collection intelligence and serves as the NSA’s Security Education Academic Liaison for Towson University.
  • Mike Blair, a Towson University alumnus, who is a retired Navy captain and an expert on naval intelligence and analysis.

On-site registration for the Badolato Speaker Series is available. 

The Edward V. Badolato Distinguished Speaker Series is endowed by the late Colonel Edward V. Badolato, USMC (Ret.). Colonel Badolato graduated from Towson University and served under former Presidents Reagan and Bush as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Energy, specializing in counter-terrorism and emergency planning.

Colonel Badolato was an internationally recognized expert in the field of energy and environmental operations, contingency planning, and emergency response. He was also a retired Marine Corps Colonel with three combat tours in Vietnam.
