A dozen teams, made up of more than 150 team members, represented Towson University at the 2019 Greater Maryland Heart Walk on Saturday morning in Baltimore.

TU's participants represented students, faculty and staff and included President Kim Schatzel and Doc, the Tigers' mascot.

TU's participating teams supported the walk, hosted by the American Heart Association, with more than $20,000 in fundraising.

President Schatzel serves on the Executive Leadership Committee with other Maryland leaders.

Heart Walk events are held around the nation, serving as the premier fundraising event to save lives from heart disease and stroke, according to the American Heart Association.
