TU’s campus will buzz with new energy this week as students move in for a new academic year. There are some events and activities you won’t want to miss, including an outdoor DJ glow party, a food truck rally and a carnival-like TU Takeover. Get out on campus, meet some new people and experience the joy and community of being a Tiger.

Tuesday, August 19

Tiger Tuesday


All day, campuswide

Join the TU tradition of wearing black and gold every Tuesday to show off Tiger pride. Take part by breaking out your TU gear or donning our school colors. Extra points (and a chance to be featured) if you post on social with #TigerTUesday.

Wednesday, August 20 

Campus Move-In

9 a.m. to 4 p.m., campuswide

TU will welcome approximately 6,000 resident students to campus during move-in this Wednesday, Aug. 20 through Saturday, Aug. 22. Cross Campus Drive will have one-way westbound traffic and Emerson Drive will have one-way eastbound traffic during move-in, so leave extra time for getting across campus and make sure to follow road signs. Along with the nervous excitement of move-in comes a host of Welcome to TU events, including movie nights, speed friending and a maker’s space where you can get crafty alongside other members of the class of 2029.

Thursday, August 21

Speed Friending

Move-in weekend is about meeting new people and exploring new environments. Speed friending gives you an opportunity to do both. Attendees will be guided through a series of quick conversations with fellow members of the class of 2029. Spend a few minutes chatting with a range of people, find those you click with and come away with new connections for your time at TU.

Friday, August 22

TU Takeover

5:30 to 11 p.m., campuswide

Students can kick off their first weekend at TU with food, games and entertainment across campus. Zipline across Towsontown Field, ride the Mind Winder on the CLA lawn, race vertical bicycles, play laser tag or kick back with carnival games, board games, trivia and a mobile video gaming truck. Food from Ledo’s Pizza, Raising Cane’s, Pure Raw Juice, Cha Time and more will fuel the fun all evening long.

DJ Glow Party

9 to 11 p.m., Tiger Plaza

Celebrate the last non-school night of summer with an outdoor dance party between the union and Burdick. Attendees will get free glow gear while supplies last and vibe to music from a live DJ. Food trucks will be on hand nearby and student organizations will be lined up in the union hallways to give you details on how to get connected on campus.

Sunday, August 24

Set It Off 

4 to 6 p.m., Tiger Plaza and Towsontown Field

Drop-in for food, music and games in the laid-back atmosphere of Set It Off, which helps students connect and meet new people on campus. Greek Life and multicultural organizations will be on hand sharing opportunities to get involved on campus, and students can compete for prizes.
