The Department of Art+Design, Art History and Art Education offers a wide-range of educational experiences and opportunities from specialized graduate programs focused on the needs of current visual arts and design workplaces to programs grounded in the study of advanced Studio Art+Design, Art Education and Art History.
Studio Art M.F.A.
The Studio Art M.F.A. program consists of professional study in a variety of media
from painting and sculpture to graphic design and interactive media, alongside art
history, graduate seminars, and weekly critiques. The Center for the Arts houses state
of the art facilities, studios and gallery spaces that are available for students
to execute various projects and exhibitions, including a dedicated gallery for thesis
exhibitions.

Art Education M.Ed.
The Art Education M.Ed. program is designed to provide opportunities for artistic
and scholarly inquiry and specialized research for the practicing art educator. Emphasis
is placed on each graduate student customizing a program of study from a wide array
of courses that are significant to the contemporary field of art education. The program
encourages professional development as artist/teacher/researchers in becoming more
effective practitioners and leaders in the field of art education.

Art History Concentration, Professional Studies M.A.
From specialized courses focused on the needs of the current visual arts workplace
to those grounded in the history of art, this program offers a wide-range of educational
experiences and opportunities. Enroll as a part-time or full-time student, and choose
from courses in museum studies and art history. Topics range from museum management
and museum education to development and grant writing, as well as seminars in various
topics on the history of art.

Design for User Experience (UX) Graduate Certificate
The graduate online Design for User Experience (UX) certificate provides professionals, artists and educators the opportunity to advance their interactive media and web design knowledge for today's workplace. Students complete four graduate-level studio art courses, which address the front-end website design and production. The certificate emphasizes User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) concepts, theories, and practices within the applied context of website and interactive media design.
With permission of their respective program directors students enrolled in the Art Education M.Ed., Studio Art M.F.A. or Art History Concentration, Professional Studies M.A. programs may co-enroll in the graduate online Design for User Experience (UX) certificate as part of their degree program.
