Why Study Dance?

Learning the fine art of dance at Towson University combines the analysis, practice, stylization, and creation of human movement phrases with the study of human biology, nutrition and kinesiology. It incorporates stagecraft, theatrical lighting and design, sound technology. In addition, students focus on educational methodology and pedagogy, psychology, music and history. And while concerns are often raised about the highly comptetive field of professional dance, the scope of job opportunites for graduates is currently expanding due in part to a national initiative to implement the National Arts Standards in K- 12 curriculum throughout the United States.
