The Towson University Department of Dance believes in Dancing For A Lifetime by challenging students to examine and refine their approaches to the art of dancing, choreography, and dance education. This is a philosophical and literal statement of what we hope for students, faculty, alumni, and community.
Towson dance students are:

How Do We Live Dancing For A Lifetime
Towson dance programs focus on:
excellence in technique, artistic practice, and dance education
a strong somatic (body-based) practice. Students study practical issues around healthy training and injury prevention, but also how body awareness informs artistic choices in performance and choreography
diversity of experiences in styles, philosophies, and perspectives through a diverse faculty, guest artist programs, and a rich curriculum.
Department of Dance Undergraduate programs offer professional dance training within the context of a comprehensive liberal arts education. Dance Majors experience regorous preparation, including extensive study in studio technique, choreographic studies, dance history, and dance education.
The Department of Dance does not offer a Dance Minor.
Tour the Department of Dance
The Department offers tours the first and thrid Tuesday of the month at Noon (12:00pm). The tour will give you an opportunity to learn more about the B.F.A. program, ask questions, and see the facilities. To reserve your spot email Sidney Pink at email@example.com.
University Admissions offers campus-wide tours most Tuesdays at 2:00pm. Combining the Departmental Tour and the Campus Tour is great way to get a holistic picture of life at Towson as a dance Major. Schedule a Campus Tour

Audition for the B.F.A Program
A formal audition is required for admission as a dance major. Students must register for one of the scheduled auditions held during each year. Audition slots fill quickly.
Department of Dance faculty and staff have performed, choreographed and taught throughout the world, including with the Washington Ballet, Phoenix Repertory Dance Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and many more. The faculty and staff represent a diverse cross section of aesthetics and teaching philosophies to give students a well-rounded academic experience.
