  6. Procedures:

    1. Towson University (“University”) may employ tenure-track and tenured faculty members on a part-time basis. In order to be considered tenure-track or to be granted tenure, a part-time faculty member’s commitment must be at least fifty percent (50%) time.

    2. The procedures for appointment, promotion, granting of tenure, and termination set forth in the ART Policy, including the search process set forth in Appendix 1 to the ART Policy, shall apply to part-time tenured and tenure-track faculty.

    3. The Mandatory Tenure Review Year shall ordinarily be based upon the number of full-time equivalent years accrued by the faculty member at the University in a tenure-track rank (for example, if the Mandatory Tenure Review Year for full-time faculty is ordinarily in the sixth year of continuous service, then the Mandatory Tenure Review Year for a tenure-track faculty member working fifty percent (50%) time would ordinarily be in the twelfth year of continuous service). Part-time tenure-track and part-time tenured faculty are eligible for full-time positions consistent with University policies.

    4. Part-time tenure-track and part-time tenured faculty members shall be entitled to participate in the University’s benefit programs on a proportional basis or otherwise, as permitted by those programs.
