Academic advising provides you the opportunity to find valuable campus resources and become familiar with university policies and procedures. Advising can also help you develop an academic plan to help you fulfill both personal and educational goals. The Academic Advising, Retention & Completion Office offers specialized guidance and support for students entering at different points in their undergraduate careers. 

First-Year Students

First-year students will meet with an adviser to help them gain an understanding of the college experience and create a foundation for academic success. This foundation will help students:

  • become knowledgeable about academic policies, procedures and requirements by reviewing the online Undergraduate Catalog 
  • use the Academic Requirements Report to progress toward satisfying graduation requirements
  • with course registration and course selection appropriate to the student’s academic plan 

Transfer Students

Advising for transfer students will help students:

  • understand the transfer evaluation process and how transferred coursework fits TU’s requirements
  • access Transfer Admissions and become familiar with the information available and the resources linked
  • learn how to register for classes and make prudent changes to your class schedules using your Towson Online Services account
