Admissions and Transferring to TU

Q: I heard that the B2B program pays for the first semester at TU. How does this work?

A: All B2B students who transfer to TU will have their first semester paid by the B2B program. Once you receive your bill, send a copy or screen shot to us at the Bridges to the Baccalaureate email — . Please make sure your TU ID is included in that documentation.

Q: How do I find out how my credits will transfer to TU?

A: A maximum of 64 credits may be transferred from community colleges or other two-year institutions. Your final 30 units (senior year work) must be completed at Towson University. See detailed steps taken to transfer your credits.

Classes and Faculty

Q: I was just accepted to the B2B program. Can you tell me more about the spring course I will take?

A: The spring course will be held at Baltimore City Community College and will meet weekly. Program staff will contact you after acceptance to provide specific information about the schedule for that semester. You can view the Spring Course Syllabus for more information.

Q: How do I register for classes? Do I have an advisor?

A: As a transfer student, you will participate in transfer advising prior to your first semester, as part of transfer orientation. This will help you to get enrolled in your first semester courses.

Q: What are the research interests of the B2B mentors?

A: B2B research mentors have diverse research interests; from molecular ecology to immunology.

Q: Are there opportunities for participation in summer research programs within TU and nationally?

A: There are many summer research programs available to undergraduate students and many of them are focused on expanding the research experiences of students who are underrepresented in the sciences. We have compiled a list of Summer Research Opportunities. An internet search will yield additional programs not represented on this list. Most programs will pay a stipend and provide housing.

Student Resources

Q: Where can I eat on campus?

A: There are many dining options on campus, however most are closed during the summer (link dining and other needs). The Den at Paws and the café in the administration building are open during the summer.

Q: How do I access my TU email and campus computers?

A: You will need your NetID to access the on-campus network. Please see information about activating your NetID and accessing your email and on-campus computers.

Q: Does the B2B program provide help with parking and transportation?

A: During the summer internship, the B2B program will provide you with either a parking permit or a bus pass. We will provide a parking code for the first day of the internship and get parking permits and bus passes during your first day on campus. Please bring the following vehicle information on the first day of the internship: Make, Model, and Tag number.

Once the internship is over, you are invited to discuss continuation of your research with your mentor during the academic year. The B2B program will continue to pay you hourly for your time spent working in the lab. If you plan to work on campus while still completing your coursework at your community college, the B2B program will continue to provide a parking permit or a bus pass. Please let us know how many days per week you anticipate working in your TU lab and whether you need parking or a bus pass.

After you transfer to TU, we no longer cover parking and transportation, but we will continue to pay you for the hours that you work in the lab.

Q: I am having a hard time with the transition from community college to TU. Where do I go for help?

A: Transferring to a new school is hard and most students encounter challenges during their first semester. Recognize the signs of struggle early and come to the B2B program staff and mentors to seek help. More information is available about academic support.

Q: How do I meet people and get involved in extracurricular activities?

A: Find out about student organizations through Involved@TU. You will find contact information, social media links, meeting times, upcoming events, and information on how to join.
